I heard John Wimber say one day regarding abortion, “The heathen have always killed their children.”

I agree with John’s statement. History proves that to be true, which is one of the reasons God hated the practices of the Canaanites and all the other “ites” who sacrificed their children to Molech. The Aztecs did it as did the Incas and Mayans. The Phoenicians and Greeks did it. Where there have been witch doctors and their occult practices there is child sacrifice commonly.  And in modern times, there has been a “revival” of child sacrifice in Uganda. The children are always sacrificed to appease their gods…whatever they may be.

What are the gods of Western civilization today? Materialism, convenience, self expression, and individualism and all its rights.

So those who don’t know the true and Living God have and will still kill their children…to appease their gods…even though they don’t know that’s why they are doing it. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to stop them…first through prayer and the preaching of the gospel, and also through political reform where possible.

The ONLY hope for our nation is Jesus Christ and His gospel of redeeming love and the forgiveness He offers and has secured for those who believe.

What we cannot do is throw our hands up and say, “Oh well…that’s just the way it is.”

We will answer to the Lord for the generation in which we have lived.

“And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” Jude 1:22-23
